I wonder if there is health insurance coverage for use outside of the country. Does the school offer any?

According to Earl D. Kirk, Director of Study Abroad at the University of Evansville,
"UE requires that students engaged in study abroad demonstrate proof of health insurance. It's up to the student and his or her family to decide the level of coverage--it's usually through the parent's employer. UE doesn't supply it. For students who do not have health insurance, we point them toward the Student Travel Association (STA), which sells health insurance specially designed for study abroad students and tailored to their desired coverage and length of stay outside the USA. Details are available on their website, www.sta.com. UE also provides modest supplemental coverage for all approved participants. It is considered secondary coverage and also provides travel assistance while outside the USA in the event of an emergency or lost documents." Earl can be reached at 812.488.1040 or ek43@evansville.edu. Great Question! |
